HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLUB BLUB
Bishops Stortford-based indie night Club Blub celebrates its first birthday on Saturday 06 September, and to mark the occasion, the promoters behind the night are putting on a special anniversary gig featuring cake, goody bags and a fine array of musical talent.
Featured on the bill are Hertfordshire's angular guitar popsters Look See Proof, their label mates Kingsize, and The Pins - a Stortford-based band that sound like Weller were he 30 years younger and a bit more fun.
By way of a special birthday treat, Subways' frontman Billy Lunn will also be making a guest appearance at the show, opening the night with a set of live acoustic songs.
As usual, the gig will be held in the Long Room at the Half Moon on North Street, Bishops Stortford. Doors open at 7:30pm and Billy will be onstage soon after 8:00pm. Tickets are priced at £6 on the door or £5 (plus 50p booking fee) in advance from wegottickets.com
Speaking about the night Matt Thompson, one of the Club Blub promoters, said: "We're over the moon about getting these bands down to celebrate our first birthday with us. We all love Look See Proof and Kingsize, and the last time we had The Pins down it was their first-ever gig and they absolutely rocked the place, so it's a pleasure to have them back again.
"When we first started Club Blub The Subways were one of the bands we had on our wish-list to one day play for us, so to also have Billy Lunn come down is amazing. We can't wait to hear him play some Subways' songs with just an acoustic guitar. In such a small little venue, it should be quite a show!"
To make sure everyone gets into the party spirit, the promoters are also promising a few birthday treats on the night, including birthday cake and goody bags.
Continued Matt: "We want to give the gig a proper party feel, so we've got a few things lined up to make it a bit special. We can't wait to get going with it now. It should be a wicked night."
