Interview:
1. Band Name?
Dregs of Society
2. Why so called?
It's kind of a joke name, I found Dregs of Society in the thesaurus under the word 'rubbish' haha, the initials are DOS, which is what lots of people thought we were doing when we started the band!
3. Where From?
Our members are from Nazeing/Wormley/Stanstead Abbots/Hoddesdon
4. Line Up?
We have 2 guitars, 1 bass, 1 drums, 1 sax and 1 trumpet, we all sing apart from the drummer
5. Average Age?
our average age is 17, oldest being 19, youngest being 16
6. How long have you been together?
bassist and drummer have been playing together for about a year, with the current line up, about 5 or 6 months now
7. You are influenced by, or would appeal to fans of….?
fun ska/punky type bands, or just anyone who likes having a jig and a good time, or enjoys some brief male nudity, or advert cover songs
8. Your fans are mostly…
happy people
9. Any recordings?
yeah we have a new EP/Album thing called Sax Offenders, you can pick up one at any gig or just contact us on the myspace, we can sort you out one
10. What makes you different?
we cover a song from a yogurt advert
11. A song you wish you’d written?
Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, what a song!
12. Which of your songs is most likely to be a hit?
Probably our cover of that song from the yogurt advert to be honest
13. Career highlight?
Played with some great bands, such as Fandangle, The Aggrolites, Scroobius Pip and many others, also we're playing Rock at the Castle this year, apparently lots people turn up, that will probably be a big hightlight
14.Any good gig stories?
many, one gig i remember is when my bass broke, a few mics broke so we only had one working mic, and the sound guy had no idea, i shouted to him mit set 'could you turn up my mic please!' and he replied 'your guess is as good as mine!!', haha, it turned out to be a great gig though!
15. So the moral of this story is....
Keep going at all cost!
16. Gigs coming up?
We've got plenty, check out the myspace for all the dates, we're supporting Random Hand, The Display Team and Koopa at various points this summer which we're completley stoked about, and we're also playing Rock at the Castle!
17. website & myspace link
www.myspace.com/rhysisqueer - I know, it's a rubbish URL, but myspace.com/dregsofsociety was already taken!
