| The Sanction formed in November 2007 under the name Proximity Effect. Alan Hill (bass), Hayley McCarthy (vocals), Steve Horne (guitar) and Alan Baker (drums) performed live for the first time in January 2008 following only three rehearsals. Remarkable in that two of the three songs played were originals, written by members of the band. Tragically, Alan Baker took his own life in the Spring of 2008 as the band were preparing material to record. Following a few months off, the band decided to carry on recording as a trio rather than looking for a drummer to replace Alan, with Steve taking charge of drum programming. The band decided to change their name to 'The Sanction' in late spring 2008 and completed their line up in 2010 with Mark Wabe (drums) and Al Burchell (bass).
The Sanction are a heavy rock band; influences include Kyuss, Evanescence, Metallica, Flyleaf & Halestorm. Their songs are melodic with often complex lyrical content. They are currently gigging with downloads of their debut and live albums available on their website. Coming SOON to a venune near YOU! |
