| he Alter Echo began in 2006 on the periphery of London, fuelled by Ollie Hancock and Sam Cook, two ardent teenage boys raised on the finest elements of the last fifty years of popular music. These boys, driven by a perpetual desire to make music and say ‘fuck’, teamed up with the incredible duo James Cooney and Tom Herbert, giving birth to a band that would someday shake the world of popular culture to its very foundations. If this was a revolution, then it was the decaying ruins of a once fruitful music scene that was to be overthrown. The boys aimed to take all their diverse influences, from Metallica to the Beatles, Camus to Plath, and condense them into several three minute bursts of distorted chaos and lyrical angst, taking their revenge on the world that once resigned them to a fate of mediocrity. Yes, this truly is youth at its most iconoclastic. |
