| ORGAN Magazine _ _ DEMO OF THE WEEK CUTTHROAT CONVENTION – Chapter One - One of those rare occasions when a home made demo stops us and stumps us, Cutthroat Convention really are original. London based via Japan so they kind of mysteriously say. Arrived here in a handmade package, stencil and spraypaint artwork on the outside package, same on the actual disc. Five tracks and I know not where to start - male vocals but they do kind of have a Deerhoof vibe, nothing like Deerhoof though, nothing like Rude Mechanicals either but kind of like them both if you get my drift. Strange time twitching and everything flows and grab the scissorman with that strange technique and babylondon and I really am, for once, lost for words. Different isn’t enough though, this is different and very very good. Strange other rock and Japanese details, strange jazz rock, nothing hard boiled, notes and sounds bending all over the place, and all easy on the ear in a strange new wave way. Scratched strings, drawn bows, other rock, they really are like nothing else, this is strangely good, some strange falling between the cracks thing, strange strange they really are unique, no, they got me, can’t explain this one... this is why we do this Organ thing – _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ __ _ __

"but more interesting are UK/Japan's CtC, a nutball visual art project as much as a band. Expect crazed violins among their post-punk stylings" - Time Out _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ __ _ __
"they’re a London based Japanese/UK band and they sound like nothing we’ve heard before. Strange otherness and thankfully we have a radio show to bring you things like this rather than having to merely write about them" - Resonance FM
