Forcenra have been playing for over two years, leading the band and the writer of the material Dora McKinley is a talent to be reckoned with, her innate ability in musical story telling is almost beyond compare. drawing inspiration from her life experience and the other world. making Forcenras' music both earthly an un-earthly, magical and bold. Dora sings beautifully and plays the fiddle along with three other musicians.
Gem Quinn is again another wonderfully talented artist, his unusual folk style guitar is a perfect compliment to Doras' singing and playing, with a wealth of experience from other very good musical partnerships, he brings to forcenra what Dave Swarbrick brought to Martin Carthy.
Sophie Harrison plays alongside Dora with often haunting and vibrant fiddle playing, bringing a depth to the overall sound that enriches Forcenras' sound and ambiance. Sophie has the perfectionist touch when it comes to her playing and often will settle for nothing less than a beautifully perfect sound.
and last but by no means least Dan Chalmers plays Bodhran finishing off the sound like hounds running for the hare. once a resident of Bishop-Stortford, Dan has spent many a fire side jam honing his ability to play a solid rhythm on the goat skin. Dan first picked up the bodhran at Cambridge folk festival and spent hours outside the Guinness tent playing, to the extent he got repetitive strain injury. |
